Crouch committed to England

Peter Crouch remains committed to England despite starting only one international during the past 13 months, it is understood.

Tottenham striker Crouch was reported to be ready to walk away from England while Fabio Capello remained as head coach after not being named among the substitutes for Saturday's Euro 2012 qualifier with Switzerland.

Beckham aiming for 2012 Olympics

David Beckham has reiterated his desire to be part of the Great Britain football team at next year's London Olympics in either a playing or coaching capacity.

The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder and former England captain has not been part of Fabio Capello's squad since October 2009 and he will be 37 by the time the Games start on July 25.

Beckham, who has been unveiled as Samsung's global brand ambassador for the Games, said: "So far I've heard I'm going to be managing, coaching, playing. We'll see but I would like to be part of it in some way."

Welbeck called up by England

Striker Danny Welbeck has been called into the England squad for the first time following the withdrawal of Aaron Lennon.

The Football Association confirmed on Monday night that Lennon had been released back to Tottenham as a precaution after he experienced discomfort in his hamstring at the end of a training session ahead of the friendly with Ghana.

Capello welcomes selection headache

Fabio Capello cannot wait to stride into a selection minefield next month.

After introducing half a dozen youngsters into his squad for the November defeat to France, even more possibilities have opened up thanks to Wednesday night's win in Denmark. Although Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll remain the most likely newcomers to force their way into Capello's plans on a regular basis, options are starting to emerge in many areas.
