Villas-Boas expected to stay at Porto

Porto president Pinto da Costa has all but ruled out any move for his manager, the highly rated Andre Villas-Boas, after a fantastic debut season with the club.

So far this season, Porto have dropped just six points in the league, and they only have one more match to play before the end of the season.

Their record currently stands at 29 matches played, 26 won, three drawn and none lost, conceding just 16 goals.

Villas-Boas has also lead the side to the final of this season’s Europa League, where they will face fellow Portuguese side Sporting Braga.

Despite winning the Premier League with Chelsea last season, Carlo Ancelotti has been under a lot of pressure since December, taking the club through its worse run since Roman Abramovich took over the club in 2003.

With Chelsea's reported first choice, Guus Hiddink, not keen on a return to club management, Villas-Boas represents an alternative, an appointment many would welcome given his comparisons with former Blues boss Jose Mourinho.

Speaking at a special dinner organised to celebrate Porto’s 25th league title, Da Costa said: "Out of the thousands of times that he has been asked if he would be leaving for another club, he has always responded that he is in his dream position already."

Before continuing, he turned to Villas-Boas himself: "We want to see you happy in this job for many years, and we will provide you with the conditions so that this season is the first of many with the success that we all want."
