Manchester United will sign Atletico Madrid's David De Gea

Spanish goalkeeper set to arrive at Old Trafford to replace Edwin van der Sar, who will retire after Saturday's Champions League final against Barcelona.

Edwin van der Sar will retire after his side’s Champions League final against Barcelona on Saturday and Ferguson, who was speaking after Gary Neville’s testimonial, revealed the 20-year-old is on his way to replace the Dutchman.

Despite calls for him to postpone his retirement after a stunning performance against Arsenal in the FA Cup on Saturday evening, Edwin van der Sar has confirmed that he still intends to end his career at the end of this season.

It is widely expected that Sir Alex Ferguson will enter the transfer market for a new goalkeeper to replace the former Dutch international with a number of names reportedly on the Scotsman's wishlist.
