Gabbidon deal done

QPR have completed the signing of Danny Gabbidon following his release by West Ham.

The 31-year-old defender, who made 113 appearances in six years with the Hammers, has agreed a one-year deal at Loftus Road.

He becomes Rangers boss Neil Warnock's third signing of the summer, along with fellow former Hammer Kieron Dyer and Cardiff striker Jay Bothroyd.

Gabbidon told Rangers' official website: "Hopefully I can bring experience to the table having played in the Premier League for a number of years.

Gunners complete Gervinho signing

Arsenal have completed the signing of striker Gervinho from Lille for an undisclosed fee, reported to be around £10.5 million.

The Gunners announced last week a deal had been agreed and the paperwork has now been approved, with Gervinho penning what Arsenal would only describe as a "long-term contract".

Gervinho, who helped Lille to win the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France double last season, said: "It's a great feeling to be an Arsenal player. I'm very happy. I've always dreamed to play for this club. I've achieved this dream now and I am so happy. It's one of the most beautiful days of my life.''

Hughton a top appointment for Birmingham

The appointment of Chris Hughton as the new Birmingham boss is probably the wisest appointment the Blues board could have made.

The former-Newcastle boss had been linked with lots of vacant positions in recent months and has now finally landed a big job.

Asked if promotion was his ambition he told Sky News: “Yes, (my remit is to get the club promoted). We know it will be a tough task. I hope I can do it.

Ray Wilkins: Sturridge can be 'exceptional talent'

Daniel Sturridge has been tipped to become one of the Premier League's most potent strikers by former Chelsea assistant manager Ray Wilkins.

Sturridge led the line for England in their opening European Under-21 Championship match against Spain on Sunday. Strike partner Danny Welbeck scored the equaliser in a 1-1 draw, but Sturridge showed plenty of class at the top end of the pitch.

Michael Mancienne signs for Hamburg from Chelsea

The 23-year-old will join his new team-mates after competing for England at the European Under-21 Championship.

Londoner Mancienne has had limited chances at Chelsea but he now joins Blues former technical director Frank Arnesen at the German club.

"Hamburg are a big club with a lot of tradition and some fantastic fans," Mancienne said.

Former Bolton striker Johan Elmander joins Galatasaray

Johan Elmander has signed a three-year deal with Turkish side Galatasaray after his release by Bolton.

The 29-year-old Sweden striker's contract at the Reebok Stadium expired at the end of the 2010-11 season and so the Trotters will not receive a fee.

Galatasaray endured a disappointing campaign as they finished eighth in their domestic league.

Carlo Ancelotti: I'm staying in England

The Italian was sacked as Chelsea boss on the final day of the season after two years in charge at Stamford Bridge.

He has since been linked with Roma, but cooled talk of a return to Italy. The 51-year-old said: "I have not had contact with the club, I still have to resolve my contract with Chelsea.

Foster happy to stay at Birmingham

Goalkeeper Ben Foster has hinted he wants to remain at Birmingham after capping his first season by being voted player of the year by his team-mates and supporters.

The Carling Cup winners could be relegated from the Barclays Premier League this weekend if they are overhauled by either Wigan or Blackpool in the final round of matches. Foster has enjoyed an outstanding campaign and scooped the double award at City's awards ceremony at the NIA last night.

When asked if he would be prepared to play in the npower Championship, Foster said: "I want to stay at Birmingham City. I've loved this season.

FA Cup final-bound Manchester City will be aiming to wrap up fourth place on Tuesday and prolong Tottenham's recent wobble.

City came agonisingly close to securing UEFA Champions League football last season, only for defeat in a home date with Spurs to leave them on the outside looking in.

McLeish delays new deals

Alex McLeish is to delay contract talks with several Birmingham players until the summer.

The current deals of Sebastian Larsson, Lee Bowyer, Kevin Phillips, Stuart Parnaby, James McFadden, Martin Jiranek, Stephen Carr and Maik Taylor all expire this summer but Blues can take up an option on the contracts of McFadden, Jiranek, Carr and Taylor if they so desire.

In addition, the future of loan players Obafemi Martins, David Bentley, Alexander Hleb and Matt Derbyshire has also to be sorted out, but McLeish said: "Everything is on hold in relation to contracts. Nothing like that will be getting addressed just now."
