Transfer News: Arsenal eye up Benzema; Tottenham revive interest in Charlie Adam

With Robin van Persie prone to injury and Nicklas Bendtner and Marouane Chamakh both struggling for form in recent months, Arsene Wenger is keen on strengthening his attacking options when the transfer window reopens.

Wenger's main target is fellow Frenchman Karim Benzema, who is currently plying his trade at Real Madrid after a big money move from Lyon in the summer of 2009.

The France international has been in good form this season after a difficult start to his career in Madrid but Jose Mourinho may be willing to cash in on him if the Gunners are willing to pay the £25 million asking price.

After making a last minute bid for him in January, Tottenham look set to renew their interest in Blackpool captain Charlie Adam this summer.

Harry Redknapp is convinced that Niko Kranjcar will leave White Hart Lane after failing to nail-down a regular starting place, therefore making room for the arrival of the Scottish international.

Adam is likely to be keen on a move to London although Liverpool may also make another move for the former Rangers player. It is believed that Ian Holloway wants at least £8m for his star man.

Alberto Aquilani, who has been on loan at Juventus this season, looks set to return to Liverpool after the Turin club refused to pay their £15m asking price.

David Moyes has warned Manchester United that he will not allow highly-rated youngster Jack Rodwell to join them on the cheap.

Kenny Dalglish wants to bring Crystal Palace duo Wilfred Zaha and Jon Williams to Anfield.

Barcelona are considering a big-money bid for Gareth Bale.
